Along Route 66
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Oklahoma Pr (Txt) (September, 2000)
Average review score:

Route 66 personified...While in a different vein than her previous book about Route 66 (Route 66: The Highway and Its People) Quinta Scott has successfully captured the feeling and vision of what Route 66 has become to many -- the soul of America. Her black and white photographs, some taken in the early 1980s, some taken in the late 1990s, depict an essence of nostalgia toward "The Mother Road" that is just now being widely realized amongst a cross-section of America. State Route 66 Associations have been working together to preserve and protect this long ribbon of a historic monument, and Quinta Scott's book can aid in those efforts. This is your history, America. Read it, look at it, and remember it!

Along Wyoming's Continental Divide Trail (The Continental Divide Trail Series)
Published in Paperback by Westcliffe Pub (August, 2000)
Average review score:

Spectacular Record of Watershed TrailHaving grown up camping and fishing along the Divide's southern point in Wyo, this book is especially dear to me, providing a spectacular photo record of some of my most favorite spots on the planet.
As the trail slashes its way across the Cowboy State at a diagonal, the diversity of land and environment makes for unusual contrast of vegetation, mountains and water.
The text compliments the simply outstanding photography of Smith, who one can tell who's been there the majesty and beauty of this country!

The Amazing Halloween Maze Book
Published in Paperback by Price Stern Sloan Pub (August, 2001)
Average review score:

FUNI bought this for my daughter's fourth grade class. The kids really liked it and hope that I'll get a Christmas one. The mazes were more challenging than I had thought.

The Ambivalence of the Sacred
Published in Hardcover by Rowman & Littlefield Publishing (December, 1999)
Average review score:

Fascinating textR. Scott Appleby's work is a deeply intriguing in-depth study of the role that religious actors presently play in international politics, exploring both positive functions filled and negative. He also outlines ways in which actors might be involved in beneficial capacities in the future. In my reasonably limited experience, this text constitutes perhaps the most even-handed treatment of its subject material, and has served men as a very valuable resource. Recommended highly for students of international politics.

America Is My Neighborhood
Published in Hardcover by Simon & Schuster (November, 1988)
Average review score:

Great Scott!Churchill's ministerial brilliance overshadowed his literary achievements to such an extent that many don't realize that he was a writer. Da Vinci's talents as an inventor, painter, and sculptor fully eclipsed his terrific accomplishments as a musician and lyrist. Likewise, Scott is widely portrayed as being little more than a chortling meterologist, one known mainly for trumpeting the birthdays of elderly viewers in between his forecasts. This tome gives the lie to this perception, revealing Scott as a thoughtful writer, as well as an unabashed patriot. For sweet America herself in all of her vastness is Scott's own 'hood - and he's that homeboy on the corner, layin' down rhymes, hookin' down forties, pullin' out his jammy, and aiming it at the sky.

The American Discovery of Ancient Egypt
Published in Hardcover by Los Angeles County Museum (April, 1996)
Average review score:

Great CatalogI thought this book was great! The pictures of the objects are beautiful. Where a picture could not be obtained there is usually a detailed sketch of the object. The descriptions give not only insight into use of the archaological object but also surrounding information like similar objects and archeological context. Then the essays descibe the time period and unknown/debated issue of Egyptian Archeology. As a newbie to Egyptian Archaeology I found the book easy to read and felt that things were explained well.

American Dream Visions: Chaucer's Surprising Influence on F. Scott Fitzgerald (Studies on Themes and Motifs in Literature, Vol 5)
Published in Hardcover by Peter Lang Publishing (April, 1994)
Average review score:

A very good bookThis treatment of F. Scott Fitzgerald's connection to the medieval period opens new territory in Fitzgerald studies and in Chaucer studies as well. With the current attention to early 20th century medievalism and its influence on such authors as Hemingway, Chopin, and Fitzgerald, this book is cutting edge.

The American Heart Association Low-Fat Low-Cholesterol Cookbook: More Than 200 Delicious, Heart-Healthful Recipes for the Whole Family
Published in Paperback by Times Books (January, 1992)
Average review score:

Great Gift IdeaThe recipes include foods that the whole family will enjoy - great for those trying to lower their cholestrol who also have kids. I gave it as a gift to a friend who just had a heart attack at age 40 (better than flowers, and I certainly wouldn't give chocolates) and he enjoyed the recipies so much I'm buying one for myself.
